How this meme works
This template has four labelled figures: the mother gives attention, the girl she's playing with gets that attention, the drowning kid in front is being ignored, and the skeleton is what that ignored kid becomes over time. The joke is about misplaced priorities, giving energy to the shiny new thing while a real, urgent need is left to rot until it's too late.
