Is it really free?
Yes. There is no account, no limit and no paid tier for the meme maker. Downloads carry a small “made with shoutsmith.com” tag in the corner; joining the ShoutSmith waitlist removes it.
Where do the templates come from?
They are the internet's shared meme templates, the same ones every meme site uses, ranked by how many people are captioning each one. We refresh the list nightly. Contested images and public figures are never listed, and there is a takedown page if you own an image and want it removed.
Does my meme get uploaded anywhere?
No. The picture is drawn in your browser and saved from there. We never see the words you type or the file you download.
Can I upload my own image?
Not on the free tool. Inside ShoutSmith you can put captions on your own screenshots and photos, in the same styles.
What does ShoutSmith add?
